Hej!
It has been five weeks since my arrival. I was expecting to be somewhat homesick, because that is normally the case when I am abroad. However, I am surrounded with people every day and every day there are activities, so I do not even have time to miss home. A lot has happened these last weeks, there was a beer pong tournament, birthdays and trips to other cities. Also, ice skating is for free here, and renting skates as well :). Friday we went to Lund, rented a villa there and celebrated the birthday of my French friend. In two weeks, we planned a trip to Norway. With a group of ten people we will rent a car, and travel from Bergen to the north for a week.
I celebrated my birthday here as well. My friends, from different countries, planned me a surprise party. They cooked me dinner and a cake, and sang to me in every language. I am really happy that I met all those people, and I am learning a lot from every single one of them.
When it comes to school, the actual reason why I am here, it is quite easy. We do not have a lot of classes, and the purpose of all classes is to do an assignment. The assignments are rather small, and with a group of four people it is not a lot of work. Furthermore, I chose Swedish as an extra course, and I really enjoy it. Swedish is extremely similar to Frisian, and it makes it easier for me to learn.
This whole experience feels more like a holiday than actually going to school. However, I would say that for my personal development it is the best thing that ever happened to me. I already learned so much about myself, and who I actually am as a person and for me this was also the main goal.
As my French friend said, ”This is just the beginning!”.
